It has been a long and productive couple of days. Today I actually worked 10 hours without a break, which worked out OK since I left work early yesterday to go to the doctor. I now have a prescription for an inhaler that won't make me feel so gross, and for Advair, which is a steroid inhaled twice daily. I've never been on daily medication for asthma before, and I can't say I love the idea, but I guess it's an okay tradeoff for not scarring my lungs permanently.

I also had a foot x-ray because my left foot has been bothering me. I'm sure the x-ray won't show anything. But I have heard wondrous things about orthotics, and I may be lining up for a pair soon. Has anyone had them? What was your experience?

I am trying to exercise more frequently, so I went to the gym yesterday, and today [info]saltygoodness was kind enough to offer the use of her PS2, DDR disks, and solid floor above the good earth (not above neighbors) for a good session of Dance Dance Revolution. It was nice to meet her and enjoy her DDR bounty. She has a very pleasant household. I hope she won't mind me telling you this, but she has a really friendly dog and a cat with opposable thumbs. I would have paid more attention to the extremely interesting mutant cat but the dog was demanding my attention as a masseuse. I give very good dog massages. Roscoe says so.

As of today, I am on pager duty for the first time ever at work. Pager duty involves carrying a pager during the hours that DSC is closed (5pm-9am) and being available for basically any emergencies that come up for any of our clients. It is a little intimidating. It's been four hours and the pager hasn't gone off yet. I'm hoping we can keep it that way. Fortunately I am already familiar with a couple of people that I know tend to call it a lot, and I know what to do for them. But if something serious comes up with someone I don't know... then I have to call around for advice and it will just be... sticky and uncertain.

I hope it's a quiet week on pager. Especially during the nighttime hours. If anyone has any emergencies let them be on Saturday afternoon, well after the coffee consumption stage.

Current Mood: a bit apprehensive about being paged
Current Music: silence, sweet silence

I had my feet fitted for inserts. I walk to the outside of my foot, as if my body is willing itself to split in half with every step I take. Naturally (or not so naturally as it would appear lol), this causes me calf problems that prevent me from running easily. This is coupled with ANOTHER tendency to step heavily down on one foot and not bend my toes in some way that makes the step-off easier. I have LOVED them but I'm not sure this is what you're talking about. I did have a doctor do me up with them and watch me walk and stick my feet in foam (ahhh foam). So yeah, if this applies, by ALL MEANS... DO IT!!

I would love to Dance Dance REVOLUTION with you! (although.. do you think this may be the cause of your foot issue??? HMM??)

I've got to go page you now. BYE!

Yeah, I'm talking about the same foot thing, where they take molds of your feet. I don't think DDR is the cause of my foot problems as it's fairly low-impact and I haven't done it that much - and come to think of it I had foot pain over Xmas before I had DDR.

For some time my toes have had a tendency to go numb when I work out. (I stagger a little when I get off an elliptical). I have had the same pair of gym shoes (New Balance trail runners) for some insane amount of time like 4-5 years (which I know is too long) because the numbness and pain is worse when I try to switch gym shoes (one expensive pair of Nikes was worn a half dozen times and disgarded in disgust). So I really do have fitting problems. I just hope it's covered by insurance.

We would have a GREAT time DDR'ing!!!

haha OMG I KNOW! We would create DDR WW III!!

And, since I had a chiropractor do that stuff for me, it wasn't covered BUT I get free chiro at my school so...heh yeah... I work the system. AND DUDE!!! You have GOT to buy new shoes! But wait until you see a doctor. They will give you a list of shoes that work for the way you step. I loved that as well. I NEVER had a clue what to buy and now I am one of those people who don't even LOOK at the color or style of the shoe, I just try a bunch on that are on my list and pick the most comfortable. It really has changed my life. Oh, and I, too, used to go numb from cardio. The bike and the Elip did it to me after a STUPID 20 minutes time. I NEVER went over that and now I am at almost an hour of it with only a TINY bit of numbness on RARE occasions.

Try to just pay for it if you can, it really DOES make a life/death difference.
