Well, I was aghast that LJ was down, and desperate to post about... I have no idea about what, other than to say "OMG LJ is down!!! suXX0R!" I had to find other things to do with my Saturday morning. I read comic books.

It's been a quiet weekend. I did get paged on Friday, but it wasn't a very challenging emergency. I just had to give someone a ride home when they were discharged from the E.R. Yesterday we went to the game stores, and ordered pizza from a place we'd never ordered from before. We like to live on the edge like that. Today we plan to play more of the games we got for Christmas, but since Hans's sleep schedule is seriously messed up, he probably won't be up for another hour or two. He finally made an appointment to see a doctor about it, though. *falls down on knees in gratitude*

This pager thing is a great experience for me to have... now I know I wouldn't want a job where I had to carry a pager or be on call every single day. Isn't it lucky that I didn't go to med school?

I started on my Advair prescription (anti-asthma) on Friday night. I haven't had any horrendus coughing fits since then, but both yesterday and today I've had nauseous headaches of the exceeding-the-reccommended-dose-of-OTC-painkiller type. I'm not ready yet to throw the prescription away (it had a $20 co-pay) but I'm not feeling great about it, and if I have a headache again tomorrow I'm calling the doctor.

And that's my weekend in Thrillsville.

I keep forgetting to ask you what kind of games you play? Or maybe I have asked you and forgot. Alex is a hardcore gamer nerd, and he's dragging me into it kicking and screaming:-)

Hans is the</i> hardcore gamer nerd in our partnership. He loves wargaming and RPGs as well as various video games and tabletop games.

I am not a wargamer (this is the one thing that keeps me from being the perfect wife). I will play and enjoy RPGs, but my devotion level being lower, I can't always last for the late-night gaming sessions Hans and his friends go for. But I appreciate RPG humor, and consequently love comics like Dork Tower and Knights of the Dinner Table.

I adore strategy-based tabletop games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, and Pente. I also like fun card games like Chez Geek, and word games like Scrabble and Boggle. Railroad games and pretty much all other tabletop genres can be cool too.

In terms of video games, my favorites are adventure types with plenty of hack-n-slash. First person shooters are okay, but I prefer arcade versions with "real" guns I can hold.

What kind of games do you and Alex play?

Alex is big time into Warhammer. He also boff with the Belagarth group on campus. He plays all manner of RPGs (In fact, his bachelor party consisted of a Rifts game!) I do a little bit of RPGing and Alex got me sucked into Magic (although we haven't played in a long time).
We're actually looking to set up the dorkiest of dorkies...a Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG:-)

That is so funny! I had the same thought when LJ was down. My first impulse was to post about how much it sucked that LJ was down. I guess it's like wanting to call someone to tell them your phone isn't working.

Speaking of games, [info]dampha finally introduced me to the wonderful world of Catan last night.
